Deprecate

IMHO, shop=sports & sport=skiing seems more structured. Something B wiki (talk) 13:19, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

Calling another tag combination "more structured" is IMHO not a valid reason to deprecate this tag. I don't even know why this structuredness should be an advantage. Both taggings can be seen as more appropriate for different types of shops selling skis (specialized vs mixed), compare related discussion. -I agree with Something B wiki's original suggestion above to change the default to shop=* and sport=skiing. In the northeastern US, many places that sell skis and offer ski services are actually shop=outdoor (or shop=sports), which is in direct conflict with shop=ski, since they share the key shop=*. I think it is more elegant to combine shop=* and sport=skiing than to have shop=outdoor;ski, which few renderers would parse correctly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Osmedit (talk • contribs) 21:52, 12 September 2025
