amenity or tourism
@UsefulRabbit: There is amenity in the page name but tourism in the description template parameters. Which one should it be? Normally we document tags in use. But neither of them appears in the OSM database. I corrected the parameter to match the page name. In my opinion, tourism fits more, like on tourism=artwork and tourism=gallery. --Chris2map (talk) 07:43, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Chris2map:: It was intended to be
amenity, as that is whatamenity=public_bookcaseis for. I was also made aware thatamenity=give_boxwithart=onlyis effectively the same as this, so this page should probably have a big disclaimer on it. (PS: I have used this tag twice, but it is very new so it won't show up in TagInfo for a little bit.) UsefulRabbit (talk) 07:51, 25 December 2024 (UTC)- Oh, that was instant! I actually didn't think about the time gap between mapping and taginfo. I've included a message box. Feel free to adjust it. – I'm not familiar with the concept of small public galleries. Is this for exchanging art? If it's more for exhibiting, I'd say it would be less like
amenity=give_boxand more liketourism=artwork. --Chris2map (talk) 08:01, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Suggestions
amenity=art_box may be more appropriate, because public_art_gallery is semantically simular to tourism=gallery (it is public and related to art). Something B (talk) 17:42, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
