Talk:Tag:amenity=bicycle library

Is there a tag for a place that just offers tools but not the borrowing of bikes?

In the northeastern United States, this is usually called a bike co-op (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_cooperative). I think amenity=bicycle_library is a more similar tag than amenity=bicycle_repair_station, but I think a tag is needed for this. Any guidance? - Osmedit (talk) 21:12, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

To my knowledge most if not all bike libraries are also bike co-ops, so I'd generally favor a tag of amenity=bicycle_cooperative and bicycle:rental=yes/no rather than the tag amenity=bicycle_library. Also worth noting that there are currently only 52 hits for this tag worldwide with ~90% concentration in Belgium. It's good to have this but I think amenity=bicycle_cooperative or something like that is (a) sufficiently similar to this and (b) much more common, at least where I live.
