official openstreetmap hashtag

Since when is #osm the official hashtag? a quick look shows, that there a lot of noise, that has nothing to do with openstreetmap (for example "Organización Mundial de la Salud"). we should rather promote #openstreetmap since it's more clear even though it's longer. --Flaimo 18:22, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Presume that was since fixed. No mention of "official" It just lists both. Twitter#Popular hashtags. I've added a note about noise -- Harry Wood (talk) 15:14, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Accessibility issues when "eᚸited" is used in place of "exited"

Preface: I use ᚸ to refer to the Twitter X U+1D54F character, because this website has an automated filter that prevents me from including that character here when I try to post.

I understand that that this page is about Twitter and it's a very clever pun that we write "eᚸited" in place of "exited" especially considering a lot of these exits are due to Twitter being transformed into ᚸ.

However, I noted that there are some accessibility issues because of this.

1) For certain browsers that use dark mode, the "ᚸ" is not rendered as white in color like the rest of the words. For me on Firefox, it becomes reflected as "e ited" because the black-colored "ᚸ" blends in with the black-colored background.

2) For the visually impaired who use screen-reader software, I don't think the word "eᚸited" will be pronounced as "exited".

3) When we try to search this page for the word "exited", no search results are returned (which is to be expected). We would have to literally search "eited", not "e ited" either.

4) Not really a major issue, but when I was using the search function for some words, this page was offered as one of the results, and it literally wrote "(eited)" without any space where "ᚸ" should have been. For context, I searched the keyword "openstreetmaphr" and this is the link https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?search=openstreetmaphr&title=Special%3ASearch&go=Go

Should "eᚸited" be replaced with "exited" after all?

Good points. Someone replaced the graphics with U+1D54F, but this won't help screen readers. For those, turning the complete text "e𝕏ited" into an image with alt text might be preferable. M!dgard 🇧🇪 (talk) 13:22, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
