The part here it is however standard and need not be mentioned. only works in the western world for the bigger stations. So I would suggest: In many countrys it's standard, so it's not neccessary to mention it there. Instead it would be useful to know, which stations in those countries doesn't have this system. Duplicated?

Duplicated of departures_board=*?

Yeah, kind of, I think. But I believe passenger_information_display=* was there before departures_board came into real account, which was mainly because the iD editor supports departures_board=* now. But departures_board=* specififes more values and I think it can be used for non-electric objects better. So maybe we should deprecate passenger_information_display=*?--Lukas458 (talk) 17:27, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

In theorey, arrival/departure is sort of a sub-set of PIDS. A PIDS can provide more information than that. They can possibly be re-defined and clarified. You may also consider passenger_information_display=yes as a specific tag of departures_board=realtime. Anyway, both are de facto, in prevalent use. Very long name for a key

29 characters is unusually long for a key in OSM. Wouldn’t a shorter name be more appropriate? Wouldn’t "information_display" be enough?

In my city, some bus stops also have small displays that are intended for drivers—at interchange points, to instruct them to wait if a subway train is approaching—and which could get their own naming scheme, but since displays for passengers are quite common in large cities, maybe a better name would be useful.
