Talk:Key:fitness station
List of equipment types is incomplete
Especially fitness devices equipped with weights are missing, e. g.:
- machine fly (very common type)
- (sit-ups)
- preacher curl
- bench press
- leg press
- leg curl
- dead lift
Also it would be useful to know whether a user is exercising with his/her own weight or the device is adjustable with weights.
- Given that
leisure=fitness_stationis exclusively used on outdoor and open to public facilities, I can’t think of an exemple where free weights are used as thievery would be an issue (Or a very clever public health nudge). Do you have any?- I have not exactly said "free" weights, just weights. In Slovakia there are a few fitness stations where weights travel along the device making it possible to exercise with different intensity and at the same time preventing them from being stolen. Here is such example (bench press, leg press, preacher curl): https://imgur.com/a/JhoISZX Maybe more important aspect (and what could actually make it into a tag) is whether the device is adjustable - as in this example: https://gfoutdoorfitness.com/adjustable-bench-press/ - the weights are missing but user can still adjust the resistance. --Jose1711 (talk) 07:47, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Wow that’s really impressive, I’ve never seen that before! In that case maybe a suffix such as
fitness_station:weight=*could work as it’s used forobelisk:weight=*. The values could be a semicolon list, "adujstable" or "yes".--Lejun (talk) 16:39, 12 May 2022 (UTC)- Thank you, that sounds reasonable. I will try to add more machine types as soon as I make photos of them. Here you can see couple more (page in Slovak but images speak for themselves): https://www.verimevzabavu.sk/katalog/vonkajsie-fitness --Jose1711 (talk) 20:17, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
- Here is another example of a device with weights: https://octago.sk/tlaky-na-lavicke --Jose1711 (talk) 20:29, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

Hanging leg raise
I'd like to propose a new value hanging_leg_raise for the fitness_station=* tag to cover a specific but common type of outdoor fitness equipment that isn't currently well represented. This structure is a vertical frame or wall bar setup, often with horizontal rungs and padded back support, designed for exercises such as hanging leg raises, knee lifts, abdominal twists, and grip strength training. It is distinct from fitness_station=captains_chair, which implies the presence of elbow/arm supports for non-hanging leg raises. The equipment in question requires the user to hang freely from bars, engaging more muscle groups and supporting different exercise styles. It is also not suitable to tag as fitness_station=ladder, which suggests climbing functionality rather than static core workouts.
