Disused highways

I think disused:highway=<road type> is problematic, while I agree with abandoned:highway=<road type> when it is not a road any more, a disused road is still a road (contrary to a function, like an amenity or a shop, a physical feature does not change nature when it becomes disused, and when it does, it is "abandoned", not just "disused"). IMHO logically, disused roads should get a disused=yes flag. Is it for safety reasons, to avoid people routing on disused roads without access restrictions? Aren't there either access-restrictions or barriers or other interruptions of the connectivity, or you can use the disused road? --Dieterdreist (talk) 12:29, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
