pedestrian gates

Full gates for cars, and shorter gates for people... are those full pedestrian gates? Jidanni (talk) 14:43, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Can you link a photo of such location? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 21:22, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Missing values

There are some undocumented values in use:

  • gate (804 instances)
  • separate (59)
  • lift_gate (39)
  • gates (31)
  • chain (24)
  • closed (23)

At least gate should have a documented value here. Not a barrier strictly speaking but a gate that closes the road leading to the crossing. Some gates might be user worked, some crossings have a supervisor who operates the gates and some are actuated automatically by the warning device.

Then some pedestrian crossings have barrier gates installed that look like swing gates, but can't be moved, so that pedestrians have to look around before crossing (I think it is synonymous to crossing:chicane=*). --Jplahti (talk) 23:20, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

I've added the gate-value now as it is commonly used in the UK and possibly elsewhere. --Jplahti (talk) 19:29, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
