Talk:Key:bicycle:repair
Duplicate of service:bicycle:repair ?
@Rtfm: shop=bicycle documents service:bicycle:repair=* for this purpose instead, which seems much more popular as well as more senior too. What is the purpose of this seemingly duplicate tag? Has it been discussed somewhere and can we add links to those discussions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mnalis (talk • contribs) on 20 October 2023

In favor of this tag
I recognize that service:bicycle:repair is a documented tag, though its approval clearly wasn’t unanimous (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposal:Service:bicycle
). The service: prefix feels redundant. Repair work is, by definition, a service. Adding that prefix introduces extra complexity without improving clarity.
A cleaner approach would be to use bicycle:repair directly. It communicates the same meaning with fewer characters and aligns with the way many other amenities and services are tagged in OSM.
For these reasons, I prefer the simpler bicycle:repair.
