A
fish pond is an artificial or adapted natural water basin constructed specifically for fish farming or recreational fishing.
Fish ponds are normally used to farm freshwater fish species, such as carp, trout or tilapia. While fish ponds are often constructed in a similar way as basins, they often feature regulated inlets and outlets so that their water level is kept constant. A fish farm often
features multiple basins, each containing fish in different development stage, or of different species. The entire extent of the farm, including fish ponds, embankments and facilities, may be additionally tagged with landuse=aquaculture. Use produce=*, genus=* or aquaculture=* to specify which kind of fish is farmed.
Saltwater fish species are usually farmed in cages or enclosures within ocean bays or inlets. Areas of those farms should be tagged with landuse=aquaculture rather than water=fishpond.

How to map
Draw an area
along the outline of each fish pond on each fish farm. Add natural=water and water=fishpond.
Open-air ditches serving as inlets and outlets may be drawn as ways
tagged as waterway=ditch. They often feed from or discharge into another water body, such as a lake or river.
Only the water bodies that are purpose-built for recreational fishing should be tagged as water=fishpond. Mixed-use water bodies should be tagged by their origin (e.g. water=pond or water=reservoir), with dedicated fishing spots tagged with leisure=fishing. fishing=* may be applied to any water body to indicate whether recreational fishing is allowed, prohibited or permitted.
