A trail riding station is a facility for trail riders and their horses that offers them temporary accommodation and services. It is intended more as a stopover or rest area for long-distance or multi-day rides than as a permanent stable or riding centre for trail riders. A trail riding station is something like a motel, only not for motorists, but for trail riders. It can also be part of an equestrian centre.

A stable, paddock, tethering facility or similar facilities may be part of a trail riding station, but without additional features necessary for trail riders, they do not make it a trail riding station. These may include

  • for the horses: space to rest safely, water, feed,
  • for the riders: accommodation (rooms/cabins/tents), rest areas, toilets, catering.

How to map

Add a node node or an area area where the station is located, and add tourism=trail_riding_station, name=* and other useful information to it.

If tourism=* is used differently (because it is not only used as trail riding station) add trail_riding_station=yes instead.
