Illustration of a solid stop line, as seen on the proposal page.

Used to indicate a line painted onto a road where vehicles must stop. Typically found at intersections with highway=traffic_signals.

In 2025, the tag road_marking=solid_stop_line was deprecated in favour of road marking=stop line and stroke=*. Details can be found on the proposal page.

How to map

Draw a way way at the cent[re|er] of the road marking, and tag it with road_marking=stop_line. Should highway=traffic_signals be present at the intersection, they should be placed where the vehicle must stop, an example being the stop line. Alternatively, the traffic signal node could be shared with the highway and the road marking.
