A
Pavement light or vault light is a glass structure in the ground outdoors which lights up a room/ basement below. They are a cleaner alternative to pavement grates which are often abused for littering.
In an Old Town context, pavement lights are a good indicator of an existing basement which sometimes helps historians to date a building.
