Criminal Observation and Protection System

Since 2011, the Syracuse Police Department has operated pole mounted surveillance cameras located at intersections and along streets throughout the city. They are identifiable by the word "police" or the SPD logo on their external housing. Some of those installed in the Downtown area are painted green to match the style of other street furniture.

Traffic Cameras

The New York State Department of Transportation operates pole mounted surveillance cameras mainly on interstate highways for traffic management purposes.
