Southern Leyte State U YouthMappers (SLSU YouthMappers) is a Philippine-based local chapter of the international organization YouthMappers. It is the official chapter for Southern Leyte State University and was established in October 2022 to promote the use of open geospatial data to address local and global challenges.

Through open data platforms such as OpenStreetMap, the chapter focuses on addressing humanitarian and community-related issues. It also provides students with opportunities to develop skills in geographic analysis, cartography, and the innovative application of geospatial technologies.

Our organization is proud to be part of the global YouthMappers Network. To learn more about this international consortium, visit the OSM Wiki here or explore their website at youthmappers.org.

Mission

YouthMappers is an international network of university-student-led chapters. We organize, collaborate, and implement mapping activities that respond to actual development needs around the globe – creating and using geospatial data and information that is made publicly available through open platforms. We share experiences and results while learning, leading, and making a difference in the world.

Vision

Cultivate a generation of young people to develop leadership ability and create resilient communities around the world. To empower youth to define and change their world by mapping it.
