A page to coordinate improvement in OSM of Portland Trails (Maine) properties.

Goals

• Map Portland Trails in OSM
• Encourage Portland Trails to use OSM
  • For publishing their trail map
    • Rending tiles in a style
      • Inspiration: http://www.hikebikemap.org/,
    • Hosting those tiles (maybe find a service that already hosts tiles we can use?)
    • Embedding them in a browser
      • Highlighting Portland Trails elements, and/or allowing user to interact with them.
  • For calculating trail length
    • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portland,_Maine#Public_parks claims 70 miles of trails

Tagging

• access=yes (or permissive when on private land?)
  • foot=yes
  • bicycle=yes (or no)
  • segregated=no (if foot=yes and bicycle=yes but without separation)
  • motor_vehicle=no
  • dog=* { "yes", "no", "leashed", "unleashed" }
• operator=* { "Portland Trails", "City of Portland", etc }
• name=* (Should name go on each trail on a property, should trails be member of a relation, and put the name on the relation?)
• colour=* (#hex code or color name, if there are trail blazes?)
• website=* Should this reference Portland Trails, or Maine Trail Finder?
• wheelchair=* { "yes", "limited", "no" }
• opening_hours=*
• highway=trailhead

Add amenities like parking=*, information=* signs, amenity=bench, and bridges.

Only map the property boundary if it is a park, Tag:leisure=nature reserve or other Tag:boundary=protected area.
