This OpenHistoricalMap project aims for the historical coverage of the polish motorway and expressway system as part of the polish highway system.
Tagging
This section describes the standardization desired for this project. Listed below is a minimal set of tags. Additional tags can be added, as appropriate, but mappers should feel comfortable moving on if these have been included as a first pass.

Relations
When should segments be added to a route relation?
- Not until they have been designated as a motorway or expressway with
Key:ref.
When should relations be created?
- For each segment, for each time period. For example, Autostrada A1, Droga ekspresowa S8.
- All route relations should be grouped into a chronology relation

Important dates
Here are some dates, where renumbering took place in the whole system
- 1986-02-14: New numbering scheme launched. Motorways have their own numbers. (Autostrada Ax replacing Droga Krajowa x)
- 1996-02-21: New numbering scheme for Expressways. (Droga ekspresowa Sx replacing Droga Krajowa x)
- 2000-05-10: Renumbering of the national road system.
