Morocco’s road network consists of motorways, expressways, national, regional and provincial roads.

A Motorways

Motorways (autoroutes الطرق السيارة) are tagged with highway=motorway. Their ref=* starts with A.

Tag the ways as follows:

Add the ways to their respective relation, then tag the relation as follows:

Expressways

Expressways (voies express الطرق السريعة) are tagged with highway=trunk. They may be part of a larger national, regional or provincial road, but they don't have references per se. The ref=* always goes on the national/regional/provincial road relation. Expressways always take precedence over national/regional/provincial roads, e.g. if a road is an expressway but is part of a national road, it should still be tagged with highway=trunk.

RN National roads

RN1

National roads (routes nationales الطرق الوطنية) are tagged with highway=primary. Their ref=* starts with RN. Parts of these roads that are expressways should stay highway=trunk and shouldn't be changed.

RR Regional roads

Regional roads (routes régionales الطرق الجهوية) are tagged with highway=secondary. Their ref=* starts with RR. Parts of these roads that are expressways should stay highway=trunk and shouldn't be changed.

RP Provincial roads

Provincial roads (routes provinciales الطرق الإقليمية) are tagged with highway=tertiary. Their ref=* starts with RP. Parts of these roads that are expressways should stay highway=trunk and shouldn't be changed.
