The railway:signal:station=* signal informs the train driver of the name (designation) of the stop, station or junction on the track into which they are entering. It is located along the track or, more often, on the signal box at the entrance to the station or junction. This signal is not often placed along the track.
However, the use of the distant signal railway:signal:station_distant=*, which informs the driver that he is approaching a specific stop/station, is common. The distant signal should be placed within braking distance of the stopping point.
Tagging
In addition to the usual tags, when using a signal, it is necessary to use railway:signal:station:caption=*, otherwise the use of the tag when mapping is unnecessary.
