The Korean Train Control System (KTCS) is the signalling and control component of the South Korea. It is a replacement for legacy train protection systems and to make signaling systems compatible with European Train Control System(ETCS). In technical terms it is a kind of positive train control.

In addition to this tag, corresponding railway:etcs=* can also be used together because KTCS has compatibility with ETCS.

Values

KTCS-1

KTCS-1 is designed to be used in railways which are not high-speed railways. KTCS-1 is compatible with ETCS Level 1.

KTCS-2

KTCS-2 is designed to be used in high-speed railways. KTCS-2 is compatible with ETCS Level 2 and its radio system is based on LTE-R. Therefore railway:radio=lte-r may also be used.

KTCS-2 is now used in Jeolla Line, and being equipped into all High-Speed Railways in Korea.

KTCS-3

KTCS-3 is now under development therefore not been equipped yet. KTCS-3 is compatible with ETCS and its radio system is based on LTE-R. Therefore railway:radio=lte-r may also be used.

KTCS-M

KTCS-M (formerly KRTCS-1) is a CBTC-based system designed to be used in subways. Therefore railway:cbtc=yes may also be used. Compatibility with ETCS is unknown.
