HeiGIT (Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology) is a non profit company (gGmbH) based in Heidelberg, Germany, associated with Heidelberg University and core-funded by the Klaus Tschira Stiftung (KTS). Its mission is to bridge the gap between fundamental research in geoinformatics and practical applications by developing innovative tools and methods. OpenStreetMap data and open technologies are at the core of HeiGIT’s work, forming the foundation for research and services such as customized geodata for humanitarian missions, intelligent routing for disaster response, and climate action. Till 2019 HeiGIT was a project within the GIScience Research Group at Heidelberg University.
