March 12, 2024 regular meeting of the OpenStreetMap United States Board of Directors

Call to Order

Diane called the meeting to order at 12:04pm, Eastern, via video conference.

Present:

• Adam Franco, outgoing Treasurer
• Brian Sperlongano, outgoing Vice President
• Diane Fritz, President
• Maggie Cawley, Executive Director
• Matthew Whilden, Secretary
• Harrison Devine, incoming Treasurer
• Levente Juhasz, incoming Vice President

Approval of Minutes

• February minutes - approved
• January minutes - approved

Welcome new officers!!!

• Vice President & Treasurer roles newly vacant
• Levente Juhasz will serve as Vice President
• Harrison Devine - new Treasurer
  • Schedule onboarding meeting with Maggie
  • Add to treasurer@ email group
  • Update regular check in if needed
• Diane will continue her role as president
• Matt will continue his role as secretary
• Priyanka will continue her role as At Large member.

Reports

• The Executive Director (ED) provided an update to the board on OSM US’s activities over the prior month.
  • State of the Map US 2024
    • US-AID is now a copper level sponsor
    • Meta and Mircorsoft are platinum level sponsors
    • ~130 speakers submitted talks
  • Launched Pedestrian Working Group
    • 100 signed up, 50 attended
    • Seeking additional community member to co-chair
  • Election
    • Successfully ran an election for 2 open seats
  • Membership
    • Individual membership has grown +30% in the last year
    • Donor levels have risen as well
    • Continuing to grow organizational membership (Meta, BTS)
  • Sandbox kickoff will happen next week
  • Maggie is now the chair of National Geospatial Advisory Committee (NGAC)
  • Creating new Community tier for smaller government agencies
  • Maggie will continue to fundraise from state and local governments where possible
  • Creating a new position to help with projects, Maggie is working on the job description

New Business

• Do we want to set a regular day of the month (Looking at: 1st Monday, 2nd Monday, 3rd Weds, 3rd Thurs)
