October 19, 2023 regular meeting of the OpenStreetMap United States Board of Directors

Call to Order

Diane called the meeting to order at 11:05am, Eastern, via video conference.

Present:

• Maggie Cawley (Executive Director)

Reports

• The Executive Director (ED) provided an update to the board on OSM US’s activities over the prior month.
  • TeachOSM adopted OSMGeoWeek as a flagship event (scoping as future fundraiser)
  • Membership Town Hall
    • Brian and Diane attended, ~15 members participated.
  • Approved as Awarding Organization for Presidential Volunteer Service Awards
  • OSM US represented through presentations for GeoGov Summit, NSGIC Annual Meeting,National Trails GIS meeting, NGAC meeting, CADMUS, and SatCamp Boulder
  • TomTom donation of $5k to MapRoulette
  • Trails Stewardship Initiative accepted as a 1% for the Planet Environmental Partner
  • SotMUS
    • Venue and dates secured
    • Room for 400 attendees at the venue
    • Building local and program committees

Old Business

• Review OSM US Slack management update
  • Board requests review of verbiage on welcome message
• Revisit labeling in light of discussions and staff management suggestions

New Business

• OSMF sanctions and what that means for OSMUS spaces
  • When cases arise, the Board recommends independent review of the case by the OSM US Governance Committee
