July 19, 2023 regular meeting of the OpenStreetMap United States Board of Directors

Call to Order

Diane called the meeting to order at 12:05pm, Eastern, via video conference.

Reports

• The Executive Director (ED) provided an update to the board on OSM US’s activities over the prior month.
  • State of the Map US 2023
    • Conference made money but not as much as projected
    • The staff will edit and post videos from the conference
    • Positive response for deeper cooperation/coordination with US Gov agencies
  • ESRI conference
    • Met with National Geospatial Agency
    • USGS+TWG session
    • Discussed https://cogo.pro/
  • Public Domain Map status update
    • Validation structure needs working out, who does what etc.

New Business

• The board discussed alternatives for legal and accounting support, including board structure changes and hiring professional support
• Upcoming OSMF membership deadline (180 days prior to the election)
  • Our social posts will include reminders to sign up for OSMF
• SotMUS 2024 - discussion about a potential Recreation Theme
  • Tightens messaging
  • Maybe alternating years for general vs topic specific
  • Q: How does this change the challenges of fundraising?
