Hello geocruizer,
As you may or may not be aware, questions have been asked about the mapping quality associated with projects that you have organised (presumably on behalf of Facebook). See for example https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/separate-sidewalks-or-not-near-ealing/132613/138 , which looks like a particularly egregious example of fantasy mapping.
The contributor there was @Sasank%20Chaganti , and have not contributed to OSM since March. At that time, were they a Facebook/Meta employee, or working on behalf of Facebook/Meta when editing OSM? If they were following Facebook’s direction, they should have been following https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Organised_Editing_Guidelines and I would expect to see at @Sasank%20Chaganti that they were working on behalf of Facebook.
@Sasank%20Chaganti has not replied to any changeset discussion comments at https://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=21760474 , but I suspect that this might be because they left the project before those comments were left.
You however have ignored all changeset comments left since May 2024 https://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=1050248 . This is not OK; you must immediately address each of those in turn. Where corrective activity is requested please comment in the changeset to say when you have performed that activity (or explain in a changeset discussion comment why you believe your edit was actually correct).
If @Sasank%20Chaganti is indeed no longer mapping for you please go through each of their edits on which there have been changeset discussion comments and do the same there.
It looks like @Amac239 is similar - there are unanswered changeset comments but all after their last edit. Please also go through each of their edits on which there have been changeset discussion comments and do the same there.
In addition to this please stop any activity on any https://tasks.mapwith.ai/explore until these issues have been resolved. Some of the editing that Facebook has been doing here is at best “fantasy mapping”; it actively makes OpenStreetMap data worse for data consumers. I suspect that we will need to let local mappers tidy up here since I presume that you and your team are neither in nor familiar with the areas that you are mapping.
If you have any questions please email [email protected] with a subject line of “[Ticket#2025093010000041] remote mapping organised by geocruizer”.
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend, on behalf of OSM’s Data Working Group.
