comfortably tagging addresses in JOSM?

I have looked all around, but is there no comfy way to tag a lot of addresses in JOSM to existing buildings? AdressInterpolation obviously doesn’t suit the task and BuildingTools sounds promising, but the auto-tagging seems to work for new buildings only.

My current mode of operation is to create a phony building with all the tags for a street but the house number. Then I can copy these tags and paste them onto all buildings for a street via ctrl+shift+v. I need to tag house numbers manually and while JOSM auto-suggests the tag name, typing each number is still cumbersome.

Can anyone share a plugin or easier approach to this task? I welcome every suggestion.

to answer my own request: I found HouseNumberTaggingTool which can be installed right from JOSM fits my task perfectly. No idea why I missed it the first time, though.

If you want to add addresses to existing buildings, you do not need a plugin. Just do the following steps:

  1. Switch to the Select Tool (hot key “S”) and select one building.
  2. Press F3 (equals “Presets” -> “Search Preset”) and type “addr” to find the adress preset. Now press ENTER.
  3. Type in house numer, street name etc.
  4. Press ENTER. Now the building has got its addr:* tags.
  5. Select the next building and open the address preset via F3. Maybe you do not need to type “addr” again because JOSM remembers the preset you used at last.
  6. The address preset remembers all values apart from the house number. You only need to type in the house number and press ENTER afterwards.

As you can see you only need to use mouse for selecting the buildings. All other actions can be done with keyboard.
