Hallo ihr beiden! Es wäre gut gewesen, wenn ghostrider44 gleich seine erste Nachricht als Changeset-Kommentar zu changeset/170405460 geschrieben hätte, dann wäre der ganze Verlauf jetzt für jeden nachvollziehbar.

Grundsätzlich ist es so, dass wir in OSM den ortsansässigen Mappern viel Vertrauen entgegenbringen und sagen, die werden das schon am besten wissen, wie sie mappen. Das hat nichts mit Hierarchien und so zu tun, aber die "locals" müssen die Karte ja auch pflegen, und wenn dann jemand "von außen" mal kurz vorbeifliegt und ihnen irgendein Ei legt (zum Beispiel 50km separat gemappte Bürgersteige oder als Flächen gemappte Fahrbahnen) und dann verschwindet derjenige wieder und sagt "seht zu wie ihr das die nächsten 20 Jahre in Schuss haltet, ich verzieh mich wieder", dann ist das insgesamt für das Projekt eher schlecht.

Zugleich ist eine gewisse überregionale Abstimmung unerlässlich, und wenn die örtlichen Mapper sich jetzt entscheiden, dass sie als Straßennamen nur noch "Max-Planck" schreiben statt "Max-Planck-Straße", dann würde man die mit Recht darum bitten, sich doch an den überregionalen Konsens zu halten.

Das Wiki kann helfen, solchen Konsens festzuhalten, aber das Wiki ist kein Gesetz, an das man sich sklavisch halten muss - zu vielen Themen findet man auf unterschiedlichen Wikiseiten widersprüchliche Aussagen!

Es geht also wie so oft im Leben um Augenmaß und um Respekt. Ihr seid beide schon über 10 Jahre im Projekt und habt viele Stunden Eurer Freizeit investiert, damit OSM besser wird. Bitte macht Euch klar, dass ihr im großen und ganzen auf der gleichen Seite steht!

Ob an dieser Stelle ein Mini- oder ein ausgewachsener Kreisel gemappt ist, ist ein unwichtiges Detail. Der ausgewachsene Kreisel, den HeilWolf eingetragen hat, entspricht nicht dem Community-Konsens - das hier ist ganz klar ein "mini_roundabout" - und dass irgendwelche Routing-Software dadurch unerwünschte Routing-Anweisungen generiert, das sollte man nicht zum Anlass nehmen, die Daten "schönzumappen". Trotzdem finde ich es nicht weiters schlimm, wenn jemand sich mal irrt und die falsche Art Kreisverkehr einträgt. Blöd ist, wenn dabei eine Busrelation versehentlich kaputt gemacht wird - mindestens das hätte HeilWolf reparieren sollen, nachdem er darauf aufmerksam gemacht wurde.

Das ist aber nichts, worüber man sich streiten sollte. Fehler kommen vor, sie werden bemerkt, sie werden repariert, vielleicht sagt jemand auch mal Entschuldigung, und dann geht's weiter.

Der Benutzer "Wilschutz" hat übrigens die in diesem CS gelöschten Dinge später erneut gelöscht mit der Begründung "kein Weg mehr vorhanden" bzw. "Einsturzgefahr"...

Yeah, @StreetSurveyor, what you did here is a clear violatio of my request to discuss such access tag changes with the community before you act unilaterally. Your reasoning has been proven to be suitably different from that of other mappers that we cannot allow you to re-tag access permissions based simply on some logic that seems compelling to you (like "there is mail delivery here hence it cannot be private access"). I'll let this go for now but should I notice any other un-discussed permissions upgrade form you in the future these edits will not only be reverted but also be followed by a suspension of your editing rights for a few days.

Erik, I see how having the information on OSM could ruin the fun for some of your visitors - then again a visitor who uses a map is probably not too interested in the experience in the first place! I have brought the matter before the Danish OSM community in https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/samso-labyrinten/134210 to discuss.

This motorway looks implausible, particularly how it connects to the existing trunk road in the east. Please use better changeset comments than "1" and "2", they are not helpful.

Dear mejlskovgaard, the correct action for recording paths with private access is to tag them "access=private", not delete them. I have reverted your deletions. In this particular case, I suspect that "access=customers" would be even more appropriate than "access=private" since it appears that you can simply pay to use this area.

Hello, in this changeset you did nothing but split a road into two pieces. Your changeset description "change the number and type of road lanes " is inaccurate because you changed neither the number nor the type of road lanes. What was your intention here?

Dear user trondaks: user norgis is correct. Neither you nor whoever created the trail have authority over whether or not it is recorded in OSM; if the trail exists then it can and should be recorded in OSM. Even if the trail were on private land or not allowed to use for some other reason (which is apparently not the case here) we would not delete it but instead mark the usage restrictions with appropriate tags. Please refrain from deleting this path in the future. (DWG Ticket#2025080710000158)

I have fixed the building=house issue now. As for the tunnel=building_passage, I was uncomfortable with taking that guess from imagery. Would you prefer an out-of-country armchair mapper like me to (a) take a guess or (b) when in doubt, just don't trace the building at all? I don't mind much either way. I can also (c) find somewhere else to map if this is something you were planning to work on.

Thank you for pointing this out. I had mistakenly assumed that my JOSM building plugin was set to the generic building=yes and not building=house which is obviously way too specific. I'll change that, and also review the few other buildings I've traced this past week. Regarding the unsplit terraces, I didn't feel aerial imagery was giving me enough information to correctly determine how many sections there are, but of course, again, they should have been building=yes and not building=house.

The DWG is in contact with someone from the Squamish Nation who claims that this particular archaeological site is nondescript, i.e. if you visite the site you would not see that it even is a site, much less would you know its Borden number. Can you shed some more light on your data source?

Hello eerib, could you clarify what the "ref:borden=DkRs-16" tag is to mean here? Same question with node/12953013898 on the Stawamus river. To these point to a public source of archaelogical sites?

I have reverted the recent edits of user "fishmonger" because they are all un-explained deletions. I am not saying these deletions are wrong - it may well be that they are correct - but signing up with a new account for a little hit-and-run deletions is not the way to go. Please discuss these deletions on the OSM community forum and obtain a consensus there before you act.
