Dear willbike,

welcome to our project! We always appreciate new mappers with local knowledge. If you make a stop at a supermarket, restaurant or gas station, please don't forget to add it to the map. Furthermore, we are collecting many more items like post boxes, public telephones and traffic lights, so there are a lot of items to add - if you want to do so.

Yep - The roads are just the start, the 'Meta Data', the detail of your area is the key to success of this map. Amenities, shops, Supermarkets, Post offices Public toilets, Cash Machines, paths etc. It can all be tagged. Try JOSM for more enhanced editing features over the Web based Potlatch. There's plenty of things you can map, it's best to have a look here for most of the tags you can do:
