Changeset When Comment

Hi, what sources were you using for this edit?

A number of thing have gone very wrong with this changeset however.
1. Th smallest amount of research would have shown that in the UK maxspeed should be tagged with the mph suffix.
2. Maxspeed:goods has only been used here in the UK, there is a tag maxspeed:hgv which could be used.
3. You have added a maxspeed of 50, which is incorrect. The maxspeed here is 60 mph. You should break other use cases to suit your use case.
4. Where did 50 come from? Did you intend kph or mph but what source did you use here.
5. Had you used the maxspeed:hgv tag then that should have been 40 mph.
6. Smoothness = intermediate seems very wrong, however what was the source?

Hi Les
Openstreetmap is an open data project. We can only use sources that are not subject to copyright and that we have permission to use.
The gold standard in mapping is seeing it with your own eyes.

We cannot use either Google Street View or current OS maps for this reason.

OS gets a little more complex as there is OS Open Data available, but that does not show rights of way data and we can use historic out of copyright OS maps although obviously things may have changed in the 25+ years.

In the absence of valid sources I believe that this changeset should be reverted.

Hope this explains things, don't hesitate to ask if you have further questions.

way/137155338 probably needs a survey.

Whilst name:cy and name:en match, name is totally different. Obviously there is a typo in the English name, should be Welsh.

But the question is really are the royal Welsh fusiliers comrades the operator and perhaps name:en should be The Red Dragon Club and name:cy and name be Clwb y Ddraig Goch.

Please split your edits so that you do not create huge bounding boxes.

The edits you make in Sheffield should be in a separate changeset to those made in Cornwall.

Hi, this edit has gone a little wrong.

I assume it is an automated armchair edit as you didn't look at the edit history or notes?
If you had you would have seen that node/11979023547 has been added in error as way/204828073/history and note/4229717would have told you.

FHRS is a useful source of postcode data for businesses already in OSM but it should not be seen as a source from which to add new objects to OSM.

Hi
Not sure if you have surveyed this, but I know it well.
I am not convinced this fits the definition of a busway.
The first paragraph starts with "Busways are not meant to be used by motorists, pedestrians, or cyclists.". Whilst there are no entry signs there is no restriction on foot traffic and routers should not be sending pedestrians the long way round to get to the surgery.
Whilst unclassifed was a bit OTT it is just a bus station where highway=service with appropriate access would be more appropriate.

Hi, please do not tag for the renderer.
In OSM the name tag is for actual names, in this case the name of the stadium, the object mapped in OSM is Elland Road Stadium. Any other information belongs in other tags, such as operator.

Hi, what is the source of these names?

Well the spelling was correct before this and close to 200 others where tag-fiddled away, https://taghistory.raifer.tech/?#***/display/analogue

The tagging language of OSM is British English, or standard English so we should not be changing a correct spelling to American English, or Simplified English as we call it.

In my day job, as an Electronic Engineer, I would never use an Americanism such as Analog in a document.

Hi Kerr
Where exactly did you look it up?

Its just a unnamed spot height on historic OS maps.

Should we be tagging 'the law'?

It doesn't exactly need a survey.

@DaveF

Not really related to this, but has become interesting this week as apparently neither Wellington nor Telford Central have crossovers nearby which is preventing Shrewsbury-Wellington or Wolverhampton-Telford trains. They can run Wolverhapton to Shifnall.

Hi
Please make your changeset comments meaningful so that other mappers can see you intentions, bn v and your other comments are pretty meaningless.
