Just so you know, we are supposed to outline a buildings footprint...

Maybe you were after a 3D effect, here are the tagging guidelines for 3D...

Hi PeterParker1,
I just saw that a mapper, who works for Mapbox, was rolling through the area fixing sidewalks and roads which were not connected (needed for routing) and thought I would let you know, for the future.

This change set and their recent fix (
changeset/60651012 ) was one example.

See you around.

Love it!

I do not see everything you've done (what I have looks great), but this caught my attention.

By the way, at least recently, the Mapbox imagery has been the most recent and best aligned.

A few observations, to save you later re-work…

Areal imagery will often have an offset, differing from the GPS location ( osm.wiki/Using_Imagery ).

Properties like City, State, Zip and Country are inferred from their bounding areas.

Names, including street and city names, should not be abbreviated ( osm.wiki/Addresses ) Except in cases like St. Johns, where that is its actual name.

A note/bug report has been created, regarding the dentist office here...

Welcome!

Just so you know, city, state, zip and country are implied, based on their container objects. osm.wiki/Addresses#How_to_map_addresses

Also, the most recent and best aligned imagery, in our area, currently is Mapbox. This image offset can be seen, by enabling any public GPS traces folks have shared and looking at the alignment of the roads to the traces.

My method for capturing and sharing GPS traces, is to also capture street level imagery, using a free phone mount and app from Mapillary. osm.wiki/Mapillary

I am thinking, if the stop number is to be used as the stop's name (which I am fine with), it should not include the pound (#) sign. Normally a unique identifier like this, or a store number, or branch name, would be put in a ref=* tag.

Note, that the Public transportation tags are currently in a more than usual state of flux.

Thank you for mapping the Capitol complex. It looks nice.

Just so you know, the recommendation on the Wiki is, "If something really doesn't have a name, don't add a name to OpenStreetMap." Though, they do go on to say, "It is certainly wrong for a mapper to invent a name for an airstrip; however most names were invented at some point in history, so if someone invents a name and it catches on and a sizeable group of people refer to the thing by that name, then it's ok to be mapped." Not knowing whether these are the official names, I'll let you decide if seeing names like "Capitol Walkway Area - North" rendered on the map and returned in searches is helpful, without adding clutter and possibly misinformation.

osm.wiki/Names#Name_is_the_name_only

Thanks again.

Ironically, several weeks ago, I ran around in Fenner capturing traces to do the same thing. I even got locked in, after dark.

If you turn on Public GPS Traces and Mapillary images, you will see what I had captured and never got around to mapping.

Just so you know, lately, I have found the Mapbox Satellite imagery to be the most up to date and best aligned to reality. At least in our area.

It seems, that block has changed since most of the other imagery was taken.

This might save you some work in the future, copied from the Wiki, "Tags such as addr:country=*, addr:city=* and addr:postcode=* are often redundant as features inside administrative boundaries (when mapped) "inherit" their attributes as supported by software such as Nominatim or Photon. "

I should also add, for roads with multiple speed limits (maxspeed), I will try to capture street level imagery using a free phone mount from Mapillary and their App (https://help.mapillary.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001481325-Mounts-and-setups). Then, once the imagery is published, I can enable the the "Traffic Sign Overlay (Mapillary)" option under Map Data in iD. This shows the speed limit signs that were found in the imagery, making dividing and tagging a roadway a simple task.

If you have an Android device, you may prefer using StreetComplete for editing a road's speed, surface, lighting, cycling infrastructure and the like. Knowing the area well, I was able to set those values for my entire neighborhood in a matter of minutes.

In OpenStreetMap parlance, Jimmy Johns would be amenity=fast_food . I say this, after recently fixing a large quantity of (bar/ pub/ cafe/ fast_food/ restaurant) amenities that I had incorrectly tagged over the years.

Just so you know, in our area, I have found the recent Mapbox imagery to be the most recent and best aligned. Though, it was taken during a time of high water, so some of the areas along the rivers are literally “washed out”.

I am removing this, as it is private property and does in no way appear to be an actual park.

I plan to leave it, for now. Feel free to fix it up.
