It was a great experience to be part of this mapping session, we have learn many things it was an honored to help others. In the first day of our mapping session we have no idea what we are going to do but our professor tell us that we are going to map, for me i was very interested because this kind of thing was new to me so i tried to map at my home, i didn’t know that there is a leaderboard which where you can see all the edits we had done then i tried to look at it, then i was suprised because i didn’t expect that im the number one in the leaderboard, so starting at that day i challenge my self to maintain that ranking that is why i continued mapping and mapping.

In mapping my neighborhood is not that just easy, for me its very hard since im not that familiar in each house numbers in my place so what I did was I mapped those building that I had known and one of these buildings are stores, water station, computer shop, laundry shop, bakery etc. in a case like this to be more informative to others we must put tags in every facilities or building that we’d known one of example of this is adding a tag in laundry shop.

In mapping street views we used mapilliary this is an app where you map in a way of video form that once you have saved it, it turns to a series of picture like what you have been seen in google map which is google street map. In this kind of mapping since we captured those different places we are able to see different information in the surroundings that we can use to add an additional information in osm, an information that satellite couldn’t see that mapping manually could do.

In mapping we used different application to map, one of these are ID or osm and JOSM. In mapping our neighborhood since we put all data that we had gathered in a printed map, we take a picture of this and upload in fieldpapers.org and using that picture we can easily map because that map where we put all data will be shown in screen, it is like it attached in a digital map that we have been using it is just like a guide just for us to map easily.

In JOSM is the map editor that I had been like in the rest off all so far why? because its very easy use and to draw building and roads unlike the id or osm. In terms of my edits, most of the time i’d edit, i’d usually focus on buildings why? because base on my observation and also on what i had seen in osm was buidlings are rarely map by other mappers and what i think is they are focusing on roads so that’s why i had to focus on buildings. The type of buildings I’ve been mapping are usually a row house, i do really like mapping villages particularly in cavite area.

Mapping is one of the best experience that I had experience, aside from helping others in a way of mapping their places just to be more accurate and informative for those people who having some research or study in those particular places because of unexpectable happenings due to disaster that occur in many places. I am also happy for what we had done just for the many others. We also learn how to have a great values on each other in way of helping others. We realized that in single or amount of time we had gave in this project we are also helping a lot of people. Every one of us can give a little time and for the people you give with im sure they will be happy and glad because they have given help from kind of people or a person like you.
