Street names in Indonesia are not working nicely.

Posted by sumirati on 3 November 2015 in English. Last updated on 5 October 2021.

Locals abbreviate “Jalan” / “Street” / “Strasse” as Jl / Jl. / jl.
Therefore it kinda gets hard to search for street names as you have to try all variations yourself.
And there are other shorting as well.

Either:
- Apply rule to Indonesian OSM (not really feasible)
- Fix Nominatim (currently not possible, as extensions to the rules are not allowed - there was a bug somewhere^Hhere: https://github.com/osm-search/Nominatim/issues/1208)
- Ignore, as always ;)

Fixing Nominatim is the correct solution. All names should be entered unabbreviated in OSM.
