Do I guess “wohninvest Weserstadion” would be the most accurate name then on OSM?

76291845 about 6 years ago

Ofcourse I’m not paid. I just like to improve OSM with adding and improving buildings / stadiums. I just wanted to add the new current stadium name the way it is, because Weserstadion is the former name of the stadium. I can understand if you don’t like a commercial name, but that commercial name is the real name now. In Amsterdam, the home of Ajax is named Johan Cruijff ArenA for example. Should that also be named Johan Cruijff Arena then? Because of the caps lock. Or Emirates Stadium, should that be named Arsenal Stadium because Emirates refers to a company? I also don’t like capslock and commercial names, but I thought it those are the real names chosen by the owners, we should have to respect that. But if capslock names are against any OSM policies, I’ll respect that too ofcourse.

The sponsors pay a large amount of money for the stadium name. Here you can see it at the official Werder Bremen page, named "WERDER SPIELT AB JULI IM WOHNINVEST WESERSTADION": https://www.werder.de/aktuell/news/business/20182019/wohninvest-weserstadion-13062019 Weserstadion was the name of the stadium, the current name is wohninvest WESERSTADION wether you like it or not. I didn't choose the name, but Werder is receiving millions of euros for the deal, which resulted in a less beautiful but financial more interesting name. This is now the real name of the stadium, if some fans don't like it I guess they should pay Werder more than the wohninvest corporation to change the name.

Yes, I’m going to add those grandstand child relations, but I didn’t have time to fix it immediately. I’ve tried to remove the vandalism building, but I couldn’t remove it without removing the stadium tag. That’s why I’ve contacted you, so you could check my edit if it is fine or not this way.

Please do a little research before you judge. Check the official site: http://en.m.vtb-arena.com/about/objects/sport-complex This is the full name of the football stadium part. The new stadium also includes the name of the demolished venue as you can see.

I agree, but the uppercase name is the real name of the stadium, whether we like it or not. If Manchester United decide to rename the club ManCHESter United for some odd reason, we should use that name because it’s the real name of the club then. It’s not up to us to change the name because we like it in another style in my opinion. We don’t decide the real name of the stadium, other people do. And unfortunately, sometimes a real name isn’t a name we should choose, but it still is the actual name and we should accept that.

Okay fine, if you don’t want to use the real name of the stadium ;) I agree Borussia-Park looks better, but the real / official name of the stadium is capitalized. In Amsterdam is the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Some people think it’s ugly and write Johan Cruijff Arena instead. But the real name is “ArenA”, whether you think it’s ugly or not.

* I mean Borussia site ofcourse.

Most of the locals prefer sand instead of sports field at bullrings, I did add a lot of sports fields before at bullrings. I’ve returned the sand because most locals prefer sand. I’ve discussed this a few weeks ago with some other editors. Zaizone for example said that sports field or sand tag at bullrings are both fine.

By the way, I will stop with editing on OSM.

Please take a look at pictures of this area of Mexico City. You’ll see that the houses / apartments are built against each other. Like row houses, it can be seen as one building, there is no space between the buildings. In the UK, row houses are also mostly drawn as one long building on OSM, because there is no space between the houses.

To be clear: "Plaza de toros de Salamanca - La Glorieta" is the full official name.

Plaza de toros de Salamanca - La Glorieta is the complete name.

Hi sanchi, I’ve contacted the bullring site and they told me “Plaza de toros de Salamanca” is the official name and “La Glorieta” is the nickname. “Plaza de toros de Salamanca - La Glorieta” is also used as name. http://www.salamanca.choperatoros.com/plaza/salamanca/

I've edited the olympic stadium again, this time I've added the link to the official website to the other stadium tag. I've added both names (Stade olympique and Stade Olympique, one at alt_name), is that okay? Can you please tell me if this edit of me is now without errors? I've read that capitals at stadium names on OSM are often point of discussion. For example, some venues are known as [[sponsor name]] arena, [[sponsor name]] Arena, [[sponsor name]] ARENA, [[name]] ArenA... For example, the home of Ajax is officially known as Johan Cruijff ArenA (stylized A), but also often written als Johan Cruijff Arena. Both styles seem to be accepted.

That’s okay. If I have doubts, I’ll contact you. Thank you for that. I’ve also (re) added around 100/200 (?) missing stadium tags in the last weeks, I’ll add more soon.

Thanks for the info on Stade olympique / Stade Olympique. It’s not an easy subject, because French writing and Spanish writing style officially don’t always use as much capitals as English. The official name of the stadium is “Stade olympique”, do you think it is also okay to add the name like this because it’s the official name? By the way, your reversion of the stadium in Montreal resulted in a double object with stadium tags again. That’s not allowed, because it’s just one stadium. Can you please fix that error again? The objects are located almost at the same position. If I have questions or doubts, can I ask you? Users usually don’t react when I mail them for questions.

I did 8,000 edits and around 100 of those 123 changesets were in my first 1,000-1,500 edits. And a large amount of those changesets were reverting of the same problem. For example, I had around 30/40 changesets on one day with reverting the same error I’ve made at various Russian stadiums. In my final 6,000 edits, I’ve had around 20 changesets because I started with a type of stadium editing I didn’t do before. Of those 20, various are about one mistake I made at several stadiums. Don’t forget I’ll always fix it if I make mistakes. A lot of my errors occured because other editors made the same mistakes and I copied that editing style because I thought it was allowed. Most of my edits contain adding buildings, those edits never gave me any problem if I remember correctly. Editing stadiums is harder, especially because other editors on OSM also don’t seem to understand all the stadium editing details perfectly. I’ve fixed a large amount of stadium mistakes of other users at OSM, around half of the stadiums on OSM contained multiple errors.
