Changeset When Comment

"Gianni sneak" could refer to: "Giannis Antetokounmpo's First Nike Signature Sneaker" which of course has nothing to do with map data.

I agree, it is ridiculous that someone can submit such flagrantly useless changeset comments and source descriptions. "Added details to elementary school playground" would be at least 100 times more useful than this other rubbish.

Of course these are edits. The purpose of a changeset comment is to summarize what those edits are. "Edits" is a useless comment for that as it tells us absolutely nothing that we didn't already know.

Fixed in changeset/76829276, I hope.

What was your source for the name "Cape Lane"?

Hi, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Please note that only the street name belongs in addr:street=* and should not be abbreviated; the number goes in addr:housenumber=*. Also the node for a car dealership should go on the main building, not in the middle of a driveway. I have fixed these issues.

Re: way/741761248 and way/741761245 -- where are you seeing these sidewalks/footpaths next to Wakeforest Street? And on which imagery?

Also, please try to use changeset comments more descriptive than "edits". Honestly, "edits" with no further information is as useful as a blank comment.

That was probably one of the few places that threw a warning for unprintable characters or trailing spaces. Those, I will admit, I apparently didn't look as closely at as I should have (but I have since fixed it).

> *For one, the range of changes is too large,

Yes, larger than normal, but going one state at a time was getting to be tedious and in many cases I was only finding one or two things that needed fixing.

> * parks are set as points, although they already exist as areas,

If this did happen it's because a park node existed with an opening_hours tag and the park area was not. I am in favor of merging the fixed data into the area and deleting the now-duplicate node if that's the case anywhere.

> * churches are created that are definitely not churches (company creates fans) and

Any such fake churches existed before I edited the service_times/opening_hours tag on them (or cleaned up things like invalid characters in description, which were a small number of the overall edits).

> * the standards for the spelling of values are not met.

I fixed as many of these as I could find but I wanted to get the fixes I had up before the data got too stale and I risked having to fix even more conflicts than I did.

The opening_hours tag for Chipotle look suspiciously like it was copy-pasted from somewhere else. Please note that (1) opening_hours has a very specific syntax documented in the wiki and (2) copy-pasting from other mapping services such as Google is strictly forbidden.

OK, just confirmed the original changeset was a complete botch and the revert is justified. Good work!

Please save your changes before moving to a different area. This changeset's bounding box stretches from the southern US/northern Mexico all the way to Saudi Arabia. This interferes with the ability of other mappers to see where changes are really being made.

This changeset was reverted in its entirety by changeset/76520041. highway=service *is* the accepted convention of mapping ways through parking lots in OpenStreetMap; please refer to osm.wiki for further information.

Looks good except for the phone number format, which another mapper has since fixed. Welcome to OpenStreetMap!

Why the revert? There are no comments on the original changeset.

Please do not tag large areas as building=* unless it really is one big huge building. The individual buildings should be outlined and each tagged building=* as appropriate, as I have done in a later changeset.

72031290 about 6 years ago

I have undeleted this node to restore the address in changeset/76066946. Please note the address is still valid data even if the establishment located there has closed, unless the building has actually been demolished (and sometimes not even then as the same address can be used for the new building rebuilt there).
