over 5 years ago | Hi, thanks for adding the details! Just a friendly tip that the OSM convention is to expand street name abbreviations (Ave -> Avenue, NE -> Northeast). Also, the pattern on other streets nearby appears to be to use the numbers (1st, 2nd, etc.) -- I've already updated it to be 3rd instead of Third. Thanks again, and hope to see more edits!
over 5 years ago | Hi, and welcome to OSM! Edits look good, though I might suggest capitalizing the first letter of "Jefferson Beach Dock". Thanks, hope to see more edits!
almost 6 years ago | Hi, welcome to OSM and thanks for the edits! I looked at the edit quickly and noticed a couple of things. I can send them in a separate message.
almost 6 years ago | There is also an approved way of mapping these using relations and the "enforcement" tag. This might be more accurate since they are enforced in specific traffic directions. That however is an advanced technique. Perhaps Glassman can chime in here?!
almost 6 years ago | Hi, thanks for editing, though these and the new ones added today are still incorrectly tagged (using the name field). Adding custom tags isn't hard, but does take a little instruction. I'll try to explain: 1. In the ID editor (which you're already using) select a node. 2. In the leftmost panel, scroll down until you see "All Tags" and expand it. 3. Click the + sign to add a new tag, and fill the left box with highway, and the right box with redlght_camera. Also explained at the following URL (search for "All tags") to see a screenshot: https://learnosm.org/en/beginner/id-editor/#additional-information-and-custom-tags
almost 6 years ago | Nice house additions, thanks!
almost 6 years ago | No problem, it's just a small detail. Thanks for fixing it, and for all of your other edits!
almost 6 years ago | Hi, thanks for updating the business location. Do you happen to know if the building is now gone? In addition to the business tags being removed, the address has been removed, though perhaps it should still be there for the next tenant.
almost 6 years ago | Hi, thanks for adding in the street name. It's not obvious, or clear, but there's a naming convention (described on the wiki) that abbreviations in names (especially street names) not be used, since it's easier for data consumers to abbreviate than unabbreviate. Just a friendly suggestion for the future, I've already expanded the ones for this feature. Thanks again!
almost 6 years ago | Hi, and welcome to OSM! After reviewing the change, it looks like you accidentally dragged the node at the intersection a short distance. I've already undone the change (to keep the road straight). Thanks for editing! If you accidentally make a mistake while editing, you can either press the 'undo' control in the editor to undo the changes, or even just close the editor tab without saving/uploading the changes. Please let me know if you have any questions, happy to help. Thanks again!
almost 6 years ago | Hi and welcome to OSM! Thanks for the edit, however the Ballard Locks is already in the map (see way/292961531) so I’m going to remove this addition. Thanks again.
almost 6 years ago | Yes, this is a local chain, with the 'A'. I went to the Seattle business's own website, and they even have it multiple ways there. I picked the one that appeared most often, and most official, and fits with normal convention. Yes, it's lowercase in their logo, but I think while the spelling on logos can be authoritative, the capitalization is often just for the logo and not how they refer to themselves (e.g. Amazon & Facebook (lowercase) and Potbelly Sandwiches (all caps)).
almost 6 years ago | Good catch, yes, it was a simple replacement shortcut that appeared that it was working but looks like it was faking me out. I had only done this on a handful of recent manual additions; I’ve fixed them, hopefully I’ve caught them all. Thanks & happy holidays!
almost 6 years ago | Yes, it’s a shortcut I was trying to use. It looked like it was working, then I noticed some cases where it didn’t. I’ve gone back and fixed them, and will probably avoid using it in the future.
about 6 years ago | Hi, and welcome to OSM! Thanks for the edit - I just made a change removing the description; the way it is now (without the name or description tags) should be adequate for the housenumber to appear on the default map. This type of change usually shows up in the zoomed in levels within 30 minutes, other zoom levels can take a while to show up, or you may need to refresh the webpage (after waiting). Thanks again!
about 6 years ago | It’s really very minor - I could have easily just gone ahead and fixed it without telling you, but part of OSM is helping show new mappers the ropes! I’d prefer to let you fix it (c’mon, it’s fun!) but if you’d rather not, just let me know!
about 6 years ago | Yes, sorry for being so wordy, I’ll try again! The building outline was already tagged with the address. You correctly added a node to the outline of the building, and correctly added the entrance=main tag to that node. But then you incorrectly also added all of the address tags to that node. That’s all I meant.
about 6 years ago | Hi, thanks for the edits! Just a friendly comment on something I noticed, the requested convention for adding street names (also in address tags) is to spell out all abbreviations (St -> Street) to avoid ambiguities. Thanks again!
about 6 years ago | Hi, and welcome to OSM! Thanks for the edit -- adding the node and tagging it entrance=main is correct. Just a friendly note: in this case the building seems to have just one address, so usually the entire building gets those tags, not the entrance node. If there are multiple addresses in the building, separate nodes near to but not on the building outline can be added with their addresses. (See Flying Squirrel Pizza across the street, or Kona Kitchen for examples.) Thanks again and hope to see more edits!
about 6 years ago | Hi, yes, I think you're right to remove the name from this section of road; though from the aerial imagery do you think it looks more like it should be downgraded to a highway=service, service=alley rather than a highway=residential, noname=yes? I think the patches of grass mid-street may push it that way.
