I'd love to know why the coastline was so messed up, and why there was a forest of like 500 blank poi's in the middle of nowhere.

Not sure, but are you on the ca talk list. There is a lot of importing going on. If I remember correctly from the list talk the process can take several hours with some weird things happing mid-way through the process.
But then again may be not.
