Changeset When Comment

Thanks for adding that so quickly!!

What did you use as the source for the boundary itself, did you just trace from a publication or the website? It's not a copyright issue I'm just wondering why the game lands boundary shares ways with the landcover in places.

Is this the correct changeset comment? I don't see any primary links involved here

@willkmis did you ever get a response? Seems like something we should sort out before retagging all the high-profile geographic features we call deserts.

(They're old but I'm also wondering if there's a good reason for 3938399, 6485749, and 6485753 to have layer=-1 ?)

Are the roads signed TN 331 or SR 331? I can never trust TIGER but haven't driven much of the state only an hour west of me

Hi jdj150, please use more descriptive changeset comments. 'improving' provides no explanation of what you are actually doing and makes it difficult for other mappers to follow your changes.

Is there a tag with equivalent meaning we can use? This is the only usage of tourism=farmstay. There is also one usage of resort=farmstay

136902456 over 2 years ago

What did you mean by tourism=farmstay? I assume it's a typo

You also have a habit of using highway=unclassified exceedingly on normal residential roads for some reason, which is not in line with any NA tagging guidelines that I'm familiar with, certainly not in NC. You also seem to be reusing the maproulette changeset comment for your other changes not touching any TIGER roads, which is quite confusing.

Please stop these large changes until you have discussed them with the local community.

The 'State Road' designation is not a navigable code for use in osm.wiki/Tag:ref=, nor does it belong in alt_name= (which is duplicating information anyway).

Please stop using the name field to name every building 'house'. That is what tags are for. If they really are all houses, please use the tag 'building=house'

135701197 over 2 years ago

Pleas don't just blindly perform any of the 'upgraded tags' alerts in iD, these are definitely foot paths and not they generic highway=path.

Also, what isolated highways did you actually fix here? it looks like you extended a road and a stream and that's it

If the 'tunnel' doesn't go underground please don't put it on layer -1. Instead just put the roof on layer 1

Is the changeset comment just a holdover from previous changesets? I don't see any TIGER roads being touched at all here

I'll also note that the main trail, which runs between two houses, is also present on Google Maps as the Snake Mountain Trail. Google does not use OSM data, so deleting features here will not affect the service with many more users.

If I'm understanding the tagging correctly, large chunks of the Norlina route have been abandoned for almost four decades. And the Norlina Subdivision Wikipedia states that the north section is not even owned by CSX anymore.

Do the abandoned sections belong in a route relation?

130960830 almost 3 years ago

Yeah definitely; I usually use lifecycles for disaster areas but just didn't here haha. I figured they were just abandoned construction. I suppose it's probably especially prudent to use them in hurricane-prone areas where it will be a problem again in a few months ...

Hi brc22, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

While these trails are partially on private property, they are good data to include in OSM since they do exist on the ground. Portions of the trails are also on Elk Knob State Park and NC WRC lands.

The way they were tagged indicated they were private trails, and very strenuous hiking. This discourages people from trying to trespass and tells software not to route people there.

I have reverted these changes in changeset #130964000. Let me know if you have any questions!
