About time too! Drove past it on Thursday and saw they had finally finished the approaches and the line painter was there ready to paint the new lines.

Out of curiosity, when was VA-80 rerouted from going to the KY line and KY-80?

Hate to break it to you, but Nelson isn't 'primary' either. There's no chance it's higher type road than Babcock, Thompson Run or even Perry Highway (US-19). Especially when there's signage @ McKnight Road that says 'NO THRU TRAFFIC', meaning 0% chance the road is a 'primary' route.

That's why it was originally tagged with 'highway=unclassified' for most of it's distance. It isn't residential, but unclassified is the next tier above residential, as it isn't a tertiary road either.

I've just re-downgraded the road back to it's proper type.

Actually, take that back, the video @ that link shows a NC-417 shield @ the 1:45 mark. So, route number confirmed.

140918168 over 2 years ago

LOL! The road just opened.

Haven't found any pictures yet that prove or disprove the route number, but you can remove the access=no tags at least.

Alright. Was only asking due to a completely separate project on roads, and we were wondering if it was open or not, due to possibly needing to add NC-417 to that project (if it is indeed posted as such).

Has the 'Military Cutoff Road Extension' officially opened yet? Can't find any news articles saying that it has yet. If you know of such an article, please link me.

I would compare them to more like US-19 thru WV between I-79 & I-77. Fully trunk highway, with only the Oak Hill segment of US-19 a true 'motorway', as it was built as a bypass for US-21 back in the day.

133195319 over 2 years ago

Hate to break it to you, but none of FL-85 or FL-123 are 'freeways/motorways'. They all have at-grade intersections w/ left turn lanes. They should be 100% still trunk highways and returned to as such. They are nothing like I-10.

All good. At least I spotted it (was working on another project that made me look at this area), as was able to restore it without much issue. :)

95708156 over 2 years ago

Anyways, I've gone ahead and just re-added it (visible on Bing imagery).

95708156 over 2 years ago

I'm curious, but why did you undo the new US-19 bridge in Shinnston in this changeset that I had previously added back in 2017?

134393984 over 2 years ago

Pretty sure 'CR-19/33' (Old US 19 and WV 71 Road) isn't a one-way road.

Does look like it's divided @ it's southern end @ US-19/460 however when looking at the sat imagery.

Probably isn't called "Old US 19 and WV 71 Road" either, but that's not your mistake however.

Anyways, just fixed the 'oneway' error in case you want to come back later and twin the southern most part.

Please don't jump the gun on stuff like this (this was 8h+ before it was even reopened). What if a last second issue popped up that prevented the highway from being opened on Friday afternoon till sometime on Saturday or even Sunday?

Stuff like this that is super important like I-95 shouldn't be tagged as being open till it is 100% confirmed to be opened due to possible router issues.

Look @ my source link in the changeset info. It has the official detours on it, and it clears says that I-95 SB is open to Exit #30 now. And it says that people can reenter NB @ Milnor Street.

I wouldn't have made this change if it wasn't backed up by PennDOT source material since I'm from the other side of PA. Plus I've seen news reports showing traffic using said ramps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW9K1Z-j_-8 (skip to around the 3 minute mark).

Scroll down to "Southbound I-95 detour (local)" & "Northbound I-95 detour (local)" to see this.

As for that 'ramp', I know it's not open to I-95 NB traffic, as PennDOT is forcing everyone off @ Exit #26. Not 100% sure if it's open to Betsy Ross Bridge traffic.

You do know that we can't use Google StreetView for editing in OSM, correct?

99051582 over 3 years ago

I'm curious as to why you took the 'I 26 Future" tag out of the ref tag? NC has 'normal' looking Interstate shields along this segment, but with a 'Future' tab above them (or some shields with the 'Interstate' text replaced with 'Future'). While the 'fut_ref' tag is also correct, the other info in the 'ref' tag shouldn't have been removed due to it being signed in the field.

I'm actually a PA mapper, but I went thru this area a ton when I was on trips with my family going up to Ontario, so I'm a little bit more knowledgeable about this area of NY-5 in particular.

We would always get off the Thruway @ Exit 58, hit up Seneca Hawk for the cheap gas (or one of the other 2 stations there if they were a tic cheaper), and then take NY-5 all the way into Buffalo to I-190 & the Peace Bridge.

But while sitting at Seneca Hawk eating (they had a Goulash deal on Saturdays back in the day that was all-you-can-eat), I kept an eye on the old traffic light there (StreetView of it since it's long gone: https://goo.gl/maps/po7jajQyrV6EUJWJA ), and noticed that ~65% (maybe is a better guess) would take NY-5 there over US-20. Plus more traffic seems to be coming from NY-5 than US-20 when the two routes merged there.

113428830 over 3 years ago

I honestly doubt NY-5 here should be secondary, even if it's based on a 'ACC classification'. If you're wondering why, every time I've been in the area, about 75% of the traffic follows NY-5 instead of US-20 after leaving Seneca Hawk @ NY-438, as NY-5 is mostly 4-lanes, while US-20 is 2-lanes. Now, this was before they built the roundabout to be honest, but I'm honestly doubting that the traffic patterns would change.

Just thought I'd throw my 2-cents in here.

No problem.

But trust me on this, JOSM is way better to use to look at the history of a way. It adds in which version of the way a particular tag was added. ;)

Also, the way you referenced, was a way that was split from the original when Sundance added the bridge in that area. This is the original way that you can see the entire history on: way/15085639
