Oh wow, I can't believe I didn't notice the missing 't' since I'm there every few days. *facepalm*

Well, I do try to keep a tab on all changesets in the Pittsburgh area when I have the to look at them. Thank goodness for the RSS feed of the local changesets I have. :)

Hi bwarren, I've been noticing recently you've been adding several car dealerships across the USA. I'm just curious, but where are you getting the names/info for all of them?

28494769 almost 11 years ago

Is this a legit place/in the correct location? Seems like it's not as I can't anything by that name online. Plus, I highly doubt that PennDOT would allow anybody to build inside of an interchange nowadays, as there's nothing shown there in Bing Imagery.

I don't know how you did this, but you broke an intersection along West Carson Street here in Pittsburgh with this changeset. Somehow, you removed a node from this way ( way/54223992 ), which disconnected a connecting road, which somehow retained the node you removed from West Carson Street. I've fixed the intersection in changeset/28764766.

I'm sorry, but I'm reverting the part of this changeset that edited West Carson Street. It is still one-way inbound to Pittsburgh till the construction project is over. http://www.dot.state.pa.us/penndot/districts/district11.nsf/D11Secondary?OpenFrameset&Frame=main&src=WestCarsonSt?OpenPage

Just so you know, you twinned a segment of Duquesne Boulevard (PA-837) in this changeset that shouldn't have been twinned (Tiger data is wrong here about it being divided in Duquesne between he bridges) as it's just a single carriageway with 4 lanes (2 each way) and isn't divided. I've fixed this in changeset/28499945. changeset/28499945

Speed limit isn't always a reason for upgrading to trunk from primary. You have to look to see if the segment of trunk you're adding has a logical start/end points. IMO, this doesn't. It ends at 2-lane segments on each end. While it is about 8 miles long, thru traffic is way better served over on PA-65 (hence why it was trunk already and PA-51 was primary). On PA-65, it is 4 lanes all the way from Pittsburgh to Rochester (PA-51 isn't), is divided practically the entire way (PA-51 only has this small area), and is the preferred thru route here.

We don't want to be confusing routing engines here with 2 trunks on each side of the river, especially when one of them shouldn't be one.

So, I recommend that PA-51 be put back to primary like it was before. But I also recommend that you add in speed limits where they are missing on PA-51 that you know of so it can help out the routers on having accurate times based off the speed limits.

I'm curious, but what's your justification for upgrading Constitution to trunk from primary? PA-65 on the other side of the river is the more important highway in this area (and was already tagged as trunk), and I think it even has a higher speed limit as well than PA-51 here.

BTW, welcome to OSM. If you have any questions on how to do stuff here in OSM, let me know, and I'll try to help you out. :)

Restored in changeset/28454442. changeset/28454442

28422033 almost 11 years ago

Well, if you don't mind, I'm going to restore the building way from this changeset because it had all the address info on it. I think it would be the best option here. Do you agree?

28422033 almost 11 years ago

Was the building demolished? I read online that the building was sold and that a new restaurant would be opening here soon. Did you mean to just delete the business info instead of deleting the building?

I would have left the channelized section right lane of Fifth as secondary since it still connects directly to the secondary part. They only split it there to prevent idiots from trying to turn left onto the Blvd of the Allies from the right lane.

As for the Blvd of Allies, it was when in the past you upgraded it all the way to trunk. There should be a message somewhere in your Inbox where we talked about it and agreed to put it back to secondary. :)

27993951 about 11 years ago

Well, the only reason I mentioned Murray Avenue is because of the solid yellow line all the way up to Wilkins. Usually, that means it's normally a tertiary highway unless it's a highway into a business park (normally 'unclassified' unless it's a thru route).

27993951 about 11 years ago

Ok, I think I'm done. lol. I'll be awaiting your response. :)

27993951 about 11 years ago

Now, with Murray Avenue, why just turn a small segment into tertiary? I think that could have been easily upgraded all the way to Wilkins Ave.

27993951 about 11 years ago

Now with Centre Avenue, that's also a weird place for it to change classifications. Maybe we should just upgrade Centre all the way Downtown to 6th? Agree?

27993951 about 11 years ago

As for O'Hara Street, you have to admit, that looks like a really weird place to end a secondary road at. Think it probably should have stayed as a territory highway instead.
