Hi, you may want to use highway=path for forest paths instead of footway. Many apps like Organic Maps look at the highway type before surface.

Forest paths can be used by cyclists, while footway in many countries mean that they aren't legally allowed there.

Just FYI Aulo got a blocking message and instead of replying created a new account @Naya%20Kabir
OSM admins could not find definite proof that these accounts are related.

Hi,
How did this ski track get removed? There are probably still paths there where people can walk? It would be more correct to remove skiing-related tags, but keep it as a highway=path.

I can restore it, but I'd like to know what exactly happened here.

Will change
bridge=yes
to
ruins:bridge=yes
make it even more obvious that you won't be able to cross.
see
osm.wiki/Lifecycle_prefix

Please use addr: tags for addresses. Name tag should not be used for addresses.
addr:*=*

in this case it should probably be
addr:housenumber=1
addr:street=Tammeõie tee
addr:city=Randvere küla
addr:country=EE

Please don't add same information on the building and as separate node inside the building. Will remove it from the building.

Hi, do you think access=private could be added to the gate? I assume it's better supported by routers.

126621894 about 3 years ago

Dealing with a router developer is definitely the correct way, since the new ways created in iD are not supported.

I've seen quite a few changes from path to cycleway in Estonia. As long as it's not standardized, all these changes are pointless.

Btw, iD still shows "path" and "sidewalk" for me.

126621894 about 3 years ago

Then it's a problem of your routing software and should be reported to it's developer.

See highway=cycleway
"Usage for shared paths"

The reality is that most iD editor users use a different scheme and may change back to cycleway. (And also have a problematic software which has problem with routing bikes on paths)

121506903 about 3 years ago

Also, I'd suggest to put a surface (asphalt?) tag on the new cycleway. It's tagged as a path and paths are often expected to be unpaved and this may lead to confusion.

Hi, I see you've disconnected a track here way/37615386 around cycleway. But now routing software won't be able to plot a route from the cycleway into forest for on foot and on bike navigation. If you wanted to show that it's impossible to cross cycleway on a car, then maybe connect track's ends with a path?

126621894 about 3 years ago

Hi, just wanted to point out that iD editor's template for combined bicycle/pedestrian path is a highway=cycleway. I prefer when they are highway=paths myself, but it may be a good idea not to change these tags back-and-forth.

Hi, Bobropiton
What about changesets like this?
node/344389900#map=19/59.48830/24.87074
Doesn't look correct. You didn't see it or is there a reason it's not rollbacked?

Aulo keeps ignoring everyone's messages. I'd say now he's doing more harm than good. I think it's time he gets a blocking message from admins, but just wanted to make sure that this change is incorrect too.

Thanks for the long answer. Right now I don't have much to time to read it in detail, but wanted to mention one thing

>More reliable source might be MA's ADS (aadressiandmed), but since that's not downloadable, just an API

They actually have a .csv with addresses and linked address objects on their FTP server ftp.maaamet.ee

Strange changeset. These are barely wide enough to fit a vehicle so not really obvious. Robots don't count as they are a separate entity in the law which is allowed on footpaths.

>Usually when there is cycleway, it is recommened to use it.

Wiki says that it should be used when the sidepath is compulsory. It's not compulsory in Estonia. As I understand this tag says to the router "if it's possible, don't route by this road". I wouldn't add and let the router decide which path to take, it's smart enough to avoid such roads. Check out http://brouter.de/brouter-web and see how the route changes with "safety" and "fastbike" profiles there.

>There was already bicycle=no on Haabersti ring. Maybe that should be removed also?

Thanks, I've left a comment

Hi, do you remember why did you add bicycle=no to the roundabout? Was there a sign not allowing cycling? Access tags are about legal restrictions. Can we remove it?

126163614 over 3 years ago

Hi, why did you add
bicycle=no to Paldiski mnt? I don't think there is a sign which forbids cycling.

Also, there is no law in Estonia which forbids from using the road when there is a parallel cycleway. I'm thinking that this changeset should be reverted.

New buildings are often drawn by hand, but there are scripts too. I'm not really familiar with this topic, so I'll try to call fghj753 here, who seems to be familiar with this topic, since I'm kind of interested in this as well.

Hi, fghj753,
I think I saw you doing imports from Maa-amet, do we have a wiki page or something which describes the process in case you stop doing them? If not, maybe we should create it?

My questions would be
1) Is this the script you've used? https://github.com/kallejre/geo/tree/main/building%20geometry%20importer/building%20footprint%20updater
2) Do you happen to know if there are other things which can be imported? Most of the roads have a ref from road registry, I assume it wasn't added by hand.
