In March 2022, On the International Women’s Day, I presented a talk “Open Mapping Tech for women in Climate Crisis” which gave an insight into what it takes for wonen to participate in mapping by leveraging on some of these applications so that their voices can be heard by the larger society/world. I was able to interact with some women from other countries. The program was anchor by Uniquemappers network Nigeria.

#SoTM Africa Conference

Posted by prispe on 26 November 2021 in English.

This year State of The Map Africa Conference(virtual) was a unique one. The Talks, Sessions Presentations were all inspiring. The Talks that wept me off my feet was that of which Willy Franck presented. Titled”How OSM Changed My Life”. He has developed an app/software so to say that could place everyone on the map. With it, be it a carpenter, the hairstylist etc will be on the map ( locations & attributes are very important In mapping) Indeed, his work is really without leaving anyone behind.

Gratitude

Posted by prispe on 24 April 2020 in English.

I am so happy that am a member of OSM community and a leader. Reason for this; because of the state of the map Africa I attended last year at Cote D’ Ivoire. I was opportune to interact and have a snapshot with Stave Coast the founder of OSM. Although, the journey was rough but, I was able to make it. After my interaction with other members of the community(OSM) my horizon was broden and I help to grow the Uniquemapper network of Nigeria by searching out the non student and students in other tertiary institutions in which preparation was ongoing before this pandemic outbreaks.

December 2019, Unique Mappers Team mapped Erute village in Enugu state Nigeria. In that village, there’s a hill that produces mushrooms year and the team (covered) mapped the hill and the villages around. We the team, used Kobotookbox for data collection the attributes and vocational data. For me, it was fun and new experience in using Kobotookbox.
