Heated highways in OSM

In Belgium in the nineteensixties bridges were built that could be heated. But now there is no more money to heat them, nor to enlighten them.

A Hard Lesson, You Need Android 6.0 or Higher for the New Mapillary App

Really ? You should have bought an action camera.

A little shop contact page ...with OpenStreetMap

Sometimes markers are used as stamps, saying : “Yes there is a drinking water fountain in this place”.
That is a part of the explanation for the wandering drinking water fountains in Brussels before I became their curator.

Departing Turkmenistan in June

You are not the typical Hollywood ambassador.

Happy Mother's Day

This remembers me of the day when I was looking for the Spandau prison in Berlin.

Then you can include my country. Most of the judges here are women.

Are we still English?

I prefer English in ID, but I prefer meters to feet.

Bike to capture 360 photos for Mapillary

edit :

  • The ANT+ sensors for the Garmin work very well.

  • the VIRB XE does not achieve its promised two pictues a second. This means that on a bike you have to turn slowly and on the highway you cannot drive slowly enough to cover the highway.

The VIRB XE has three advantages compared to the Heros = - people recognise it less as an action camera - the battery is easier to exchange - because it has no back screen, it is possible to press it against a tube.

Normally, I would say = “Return that Garmin VIRB XE to the shop if still possible”. But on the other hand, I could not find pictures of you that are as bad as mine.

The VIRB XE is known to adapt very badly to changing light and to show little or no contrast in the shadow. One good VIRB XE has not emerged yet.

But in your country there is always sun and the streets are wide. But I think a Gopro would give a better result in following pictures : https://www.mapillary.com/app/user/angoca?lat=5.039461534444456&lng=-74.45303779083332&z=17&panos=true&username%5B%5D=angoca&pKey=B68Ivn_hsr6TRZiyUfQuvg&focus=photo&x=0.523882952691836&y=0.5977210999244726&zoom=0 https://www.mapillary.com/app/user/angoca?lat=5.296701472222253&lng=-75.56221277444445&z=17&panos=true&username%5B%5D=angoca&pKey=FRvotJwrAJqyYKXBqgfYtQ&focus=photo&x=0.47896931287976596&y=0.44646581761053816&zoom=0

There is also a better Gopro tube mount that allows panning. I don’t think your brake cables would be in sight.

A 2 meter USB cable, that must give a lot of loss.

Bichelangelo and GPS Traces as Pictures

That has been along since GPX tracks exist. Especially the dirty pictures. Nothing has changed since the Romans :). The people of Gent even build their roads to represent dirty pictures :) = osm.org/#map=10/51.1102/3.7973

A new t-shirt to celebrate OpenStreetMap

I am afraid that the girl is not representative for the average mapper :( :).

Mapping infrastructure worldwide with OpenStreetMap

In my pictures, I pay special attention to infrastructure. https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=50.940206329999995&lng=4.626378631111111&z=17&pKey=ec3sU_DEvhKH2tq25JW5RA&focus=photo&x=0.5140524685261572&y=0.5454068064809345&zoom=0

Gear for MTB mapping

My country is so ugly that there is always a pub at walking distance. And I ride an electric bike.

I use tyres that cannot be punctured. I have some spare duct tape around a bicycle duct. I carry a Leatherman.

I use Osmand with the current track and the Mapillary sequences shown. I take 2 pictures a second with my actioncam, attached with RAM mounts.
