Hi, I don't think shuui is a new user, the shuui_upload account looks like it was created for imports (as you are supposed to do), but user shuui has been around a while.

As for the gnis tags, I've been doing waterway cleanups in Colorado, and the best practice I understand is that geographical features that have an entry in the GNIS database should retain at least the gnis:feature_id tag (the unique identifier for the feature in GNIS), if not a few others. Sometimes when merging or uploading you have to put those tags back onto the new geometry, which is what I think is happening here. gnis:feature_id=*

Thanks for confirming! I just hadn't seen that tag get a lot of use, but it sounds like the right choice here. Keep at those TIGER tracks, amazing how many of them are out there with only modest links to reality.

Thanks for all the TIGER cleanups! Just to be clear on the tagging, when you are using "motorcar=no", you mean that cars are not permitted, but other types of motor vehicles, including motorcycles, are permitted? If not, then "motor_vehicle=no" would be more broad.

Hi David - Don't forget to correct the addr:street field to match the street naming in OSM - the church should be "Bolling Drive" rather than "E Bolling Dr". I missed this a few times on my DRCOG import cells, too!

Is this really a concern here? A simple list of facts (name and address of clubs) is not copyrightable in the first place, and therefore also not releasable to the public domain. If he were taking a presentation of facts, say, a GeoTIFF of club locations and importing it, then that would be a different story.

While permission is always good to get (and they may even help you out!), as long as someone is just looking at a list of venue names, verifying the location, and adding manually, then there isn't really anything to release.

I honestly wasn't sure what was best, so I left the previous tag, which was landuse=military. I wasn't sure what a good fit was for a secure government lab, that wasn't strictly military.

In this case the boundary does make some sense - unlike the Golden facility, this one does have a distinct boundary that is fenced and secured.

If you think something like landuse=industrial and access=private is a better description, I'm happy to change it over.

Hi, as a quick tip, when working with buildings (creating or modifying them), take a moment to "square" the building using the "s" key in the iD editor, which will convert everything to 90 and 45 degree angles (appropriate for most building types). It really improves rendering and makes tracing easier since you don't have to try to be perfect on the initial trace. Happy mapping!

Hi, thanks for editing! I've made a few tweaks to your trail, and have some suggestions. First, you may want to read https://learnosm.org/en/ to get more familiar with the mapping tool. You don't want your paths to double back on each other - they should indicate where the path is, not all the steps you would take if you walked it (IE, you don't need the path to go out and back).

You also need to connect your path to other ways to show that you can move from one to another.

And finally, "tags" are how OSM tells mapping tools what something is. Instead of naming something "path" with name=path, use the preset tool on the left side of the iD editor to search for "path", when you click the preset, it will fill in some tags for you, and give you suggestions for additional information. In this case "highway=path" is how you tell people it is a walking path. You can specify with the other suggested tags if bicycles are allowed, the surface, or the name (if it has one).

I made two small changes to your addition - I made the road a "service road" rather than a residential road, indicating that it serves individual buildings. I also removed "building=house" from your polygons, because that indicates that the whole space is a building. When tracing an area like you've done, "landuse=residential" is a better tag. Many roads were brought in as part of an import of the TIGER roads database from the government, which does include many driveways. However, that import didn't always distinguish the driveway as private, so it was imported as a "Residential Road" (highway=residential).

The reason to keep them rather than delete them is that they may be used by emergency services, planners, and others who may be interested in how accessible structures are around the country. Generally, if something exists in the real world, it should stay in the map, and just be correctly described so routers and renderers don't mis-use it. We only tend to delete things if they simply aren't there (there are some TIGER roads that don't exist, so those do get deleted).

In this case, the best solution would be to use the "Driveway" preset in the iD editor, which will apply the tags "highway=service, service=driveway, and access=private".

In most cases, private access would be implied by the tag "service=driveway", so it isn't strictly necessary. However, if you are using the iD editor in browser, and select the preset "Driveway" from the feature panel on the left side, it will automatically add "access=private". I wouldn't worry about it too much, but go ahead and use the "Driveway" preset to save time when editing new ones.

Hi, saw you requested a review of your edit! You made the right changes, but to go further, you can tag a driveway as "highway=service" and "service=driveway" which tells routers and renderers that it is an individual driveway. Also, in OSM we don't abbreviate road types - so Stoneridge Cir becomes Stoneridge Circle (we let the map rendering softwares abbreviate if they want to). I changed your driveway and a few neighboring driveways, and changed the name of Stoneridge Circle as examples for you, but looking around the neighborhood there are a lot that can be fixed now.
