Hello Luke,

Together with user Josuer we are working to fix the mess with respect to Mexican highways. Unfortunately not every road has a road number and really often the road signs are mistaken due to a lack of standardization of state authorities that don't follow the standards in place by the federal government.
In the following weeks I will be fixing nomenclature of highways in the State of México. I have found route numbers that do not even exist. Our source will be SCT, INEGI and IMT. We have made a wikipage where all the information regarding tagging highways in México and a wikipage for each state's highway. This process will take time. In regards to highways 6-AD and 7-AD I am now sure they have state jurisdiction but unfortenely road signs are mistaken with the wrong shape and name tag.

Miguel no tengo idea a que te refieres. Esta carretera la mapea recién fue estrenada. No veo que exista un error de dirección. Son dos carriles en un sentido y dos en el otro.

BTW the way the URL you sent me was not made by our OSM community in Mexico. Is was made by my friend Mapeadora which works for Kaart which is bias to their interests.

If OSM principle is to map and tag things as the road shows, then federal highways must be tagged with the word MEXICO and State of Mexico highways with MEX. You can check a forum post I made with images of both types of shields.

Hello. This highway is a federal. The road signs are MEXICO A6D and A7D. I travel on this road twice a week. Roads with the tag MEXICO are federal highways in this case a toll highway. State highways in the State of Mexico are tagged MEX in the road signs.

Thanks for your answer. The classification of the roads is based on the relative importance that each country has depending on OSM and not on its utility. I don't know how you know how much traffic a road has if you only use an image as a source. highway = unclassified is used for minor public roads, usually at the lowest level of the interconnection network, and they are not residential streets or farm roads. highway = unclassified should be used for roads used by local traffic and to connect other cities, towns, or villages. In this case, it is a road that is more agricultural and is not part of the main interconnection network of the town, so in my opinion it should be classified as highway = track.

The correct name of this federal highway is Mena-Ciudad Industrial Xicohtencatl (You wrote the name of the town). Also, this is a tertiary road. Finally, the reference is also wrong. Highway MEXICO136 is also in Tlaxcala but is not that one. I am sending you all highways in Tlaxcala State.
