I am with the trail crew that has been working on the alder creek trail over the last 8-9 months. We have completed most of the debrushing except for a 0.90 mile segment <> 34.3354000,-118.0493700 and 34.3304024,-118.0566243 probably won't get to this until cooler weather in the fall but the worst of it is done

I cannot remember the process I used but as the source indicates I used The LaCo Cadastral Database available 4 years ago. I almost certainly imported the GIS data into QGIS and exported the selected data and then imported to OSM. My guess is the conversion from various geoids. I'm pretty sure the LaCo uses the california geoid and conversions in the import process can induce errors

Not sure why you changed the trace of the colby canyon trail. I maintain the trail from the highway to the saddle and have worked on literally every inch of the trail. I recorded the trace that was on the OSM map with a Garmin GPSMap 65st multiband receiver with corrections and can assure you and anyone who looks at the data it is as good as it gets with a handheld GPS

I haven't been to Trail Cyn Falls in a while but are there really viable hiking trails on the north side of the creek? There maybe some user paths of questionable safety

Have you personally used this trail? I'm interested in hiking it but have not had much luck hiking in this area because of nonexistent maintenance

I have been looking around the area of Mandeville Canyon and I haven't seen any web resources for the culvert as shown in the changeset. I found a LADPW storm drain system showing a storm drain but no natural subterranean drain https://egis-lacounty.hub.arcgis.com/maps/lacounty::ladpw-storm-drain-system/about

Well I feel if it is on the forest service inventory of trails whatever shape it is in it should be on the map. I agree the OSM tagging does a poor job of indicating trail condition. I've been in forced retirement and have spent a considerable amount of time and effort clearing the brush and fixing badly washed out parts of the Colby Cyn Trail. Lots of noobies coming up thinking there is a trail to Strawberry Peak , one was airlifted out with injuries after falling a good distance on the class 3 segment. I would like some tag or path rendering options to indicate it is a "social" trail and color options but nothing is perfect THANKS for the edit!

Hey Dima how are you... I was wondering why the whole of the Strawberry Pk Trail is marked as abandoned. As far as I know it is still in the inventory of trails within the forest service . you just have difficulty accessing it because of the trailhead closure for the MYLF. The segment <> Lawlor Saddle and Colby Cyn Trail is definitely in use since it is a very popular route for mtn bikes and as far as I know maintained by COBRA. Anyway have fun and be safe!

Thanks for editing but I have notice many private driveways and parking Aisles set as residential streets it is my understanding these "highways" within townhouse and apartment complexes are considered driveways unless named and then they are generally private streets not dedicated city streets. I generally refer to navigateLA for highway designations. Again Thanks for your efforts and HAPPY MAPPING!

Yeah no I didn't pick the name out of thin air and it is openspace. I've been there many times. but whatever

56242593 over 7 years ago

Yeah no it's from the los angeles county cadastral landbase or city of santa clarita parks and rec

oops changed it thanks for the heads up

Thanks for the heads up! After researching the tags I rejected leisure=nature_reserve since the purpose of these public spaces are not specifically that. I fell upon boundary=protected_area, protect_class=5, protection_title=openspace. This is a photo I took at the heilpad below Oat Mtn while verifying data https://photos.app.goo.gl/zrWwKLzNDiooF1d22

lands recently purchased by the local city, county & state government agencies, most people don't know these areas are open to the public

55994751 almost 8 years ago

What would you propose? These are areas open to the public with park like features, roads, trails, vistas

34540151 over 9 years ago

No the roads have never been built. They are labeled as proposed because they are taken from planning documents from lacity planning department. Hopefully they will never be built
