Finished the Corfu-Trail!

Posted by m++ on 15 July 2012 in English.

I just came back from my two week hike on the Corfu Trail. What a wonderful islands this is! The hike was pretty hard, not because of the track profile but because of the heat! We had up to 40C w/ no clouds at all which made every little hill become a challenge :) I’ve uploaded all of my GPSR tracks and added/updated the paths in JOSM. I hope other hikers will benefit from my changes in the future. Without OSM on my GPSR my vacation would have been totally different: a continuous search for the right way. I really have to thank all of you OSM people and I’m happy to give something back to the community.

Location: Kothonikion, Viros, Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, Corfu Regional Unit, Ioanian Islands, Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian, 490 84, Greece

Have you also added relevant paths to the Corfu trail relation, see: http://hiking.lonvia.de/en/relation/1659988 Seems to be some gaps in it still but that may be because you added them since the map was last generated.

Is good to see the improvements, though: when I went on holiday to Corfu a few years ago most of the main roads still needed mapping.

Thanks Oliver for pointing me to the relation! I’m using JOSM but haven’t figured out how relations work atm. Will learn it asap and add my paths to the relation!
