Pity openBmap don't work on my old Android 1.6

History has showed that once we get decent aerial photos mapping can be done very quickly. At least for what can be seen from above. We will still need people on the ground for street names, POIs and such.

You can edit from the satellite/aerial photos as well.

My favourite is MapDroyd as you can download the maps in advance (instead of just caching). The maps are also vectors instead of bitmaps so they can turn.

My suggestion (unless you're willing to pay for it) would be to use MapDroyd (it's available from the market). I have tested a few and most just cache bitmaps while MapDroyd downloads vector maps.

It could depend on zoom level. As the map view is bitmaps they have to be generated for each zoom level.
