Closing the gaps in the chinese highway network

Firstly chinese contributors are needed! ;-) BTW: are there any sources for names and routes of Gxxx expressways other than wikipedia? Especially: is there a Yuwu Expressway, possibly part of G75?

Satellite Photos

rivers of Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville and Cameroon

Well, you'll have to download and activate the WMS plugin in josm - then you can choose the landsat imagery. To get an overview of an area zoom out to about 5km - to map small winding streams you'll have to zoom in down to around 300m...

Have a look at the possibilities of the Landsat layer(s) in josm by right-clicking on it...

Have a look at osm.wiki/JOSM/Plugins/WMSPlugin

;-)

improved GPS Trails locator

+1

You have to type in the browser's address bar - at least a search box for tags would be nice...

I'd like to have something like "list nearby gpx-tracks" If the person who uploaded the track didn't tag the track in any way you're lost. You can only trace over it using potlatch (I hate this!) or get it via "Raw GPS data" when downloading in josm - there you get the data but only partly depending on the viewpoint and if there are lots of raw data you are getting crazy!...

Google doesn't index localized wiki pages

After comparing osmwiki with wikipedia I see that for all languages in osmwiki the html header of the pages' source shows

xml:lang="en" lang="en"

while in wikipedia I see the languages set correctly, i.e.

xml:lang="ar" lang="ar"

in the header of arabic wikipedia. Don't know if that's the point for not being indexed by google. If I google "OpenStreetMap hat das Ziel, freie geographische Daten" from the mainpage to test german I find a link to osm - if I search "OpenStreetMap açık kaynaklı olan ve dünyanın her yerinden" to test turkish: nothing.

New 450 year road

nice that someone cares a little bit for Laos ;-)

Scanex to grant OSM access to IRS satellite imagery

What's the coverage of scanex? I tried to use it on Yakutsk but no satellite imagery came up - with glebius.int.ru only 404 files.

KolKata Mapping

Yes, India has about 30 Yahoo hires areas!! (see osm.org/browse/relation/324844) Where are the mappers!?! By the way Rewari is not hires - where did you get the data from?

still so many unmapped islands in Indonesia and Oceania...

Thanks. I know the coastline error checker well - I had to consult it 'cause a am so used to trace lakes (lake on left side) that I started to draw the islands in the same direction before noticing the wrong direction (josm's validator should mark that as 'error' - not as 'other') Checker's last update is from yesterday...

More lakes in Southern Peru

A lake- and riverwalker like me, hm ?!
;-)
Josm's lakewalker is good if the lakes have a depp blue color...
You can use a page I set up on my site to find the name of a village or town:

http://katpatuka.org/whichplace.php

It just uses the findNearbyPlaceName service of geosnames.org - example:

http://ws.geonames.org/findNearbyPlaceName?lat=50.946&lng=-2.63&radius=10

Чулым (Chulym) river relation added

Ah, good. On OSM Relation Analyzer I like the copyright notice saying: Data CC-By-SA by OpenStreetMap and the screen is a bit bigger ;-)

Чулым (Chulym) river relation added

I see - the "View relation on larger map" didn't work for me (@ opera) some weeks ago. therfore I hd used the link from OSM Relation Analyzer...

Wikiproject Rivers

So what about waterway=drainage_divide (german Wasserscheide) ? ;-)
