Correction - either highway=path or highway=cycleway would be fine, but highway=footway would not be for this

161468496 about 1 month ago

Hi!

As well as not putting the PROW reference in the name, ( prow%20ref=*?uselang=en-GB), you've changed the highway type from cycleway to footway. The last time I was here, this was signposted as a cycleway, so highway=cycleway is correct (the highway type does not necessarily follow the right of way type, which is instead recorded in the "desingnation" tag). e.g. way/543379631/history/21

Hi!

You added the right of way reference to the "name" tag - these should be recorded in the "prow_ref" tag instead - see prow%20ref=*?uselang=en-GB

Thanks for getting back to me.

That's not what the lcn relation is for, since you're using it for a subjective purpose rather than using official signposted routes, and you're effectively tagging for the router/renderer osm.wiki/Tagging_for_the_renderer

You should instead add/check the surface, lit, smoothness, width, and cycleway tags on each way instead which are objective, and which should be consumed by journey planners like CycleStreets or cycle.travel (I gave up with CycleStreets years ago). The StreetComplete app makes this simple.

Hi!

Are "Wokingham Useful Cycle Routes" and "Crowthorne Useful Cycle Routes" official signposted routes? I see they include some dirt tracks which wouldn't be suitable for ordinary (road) bikes.

LCNs should only be added for officially signposted routes.

Hi!

I set Whitehill Lane as being closed for construction some time ago due to the redevelopment of the area. The developer plans that you listed as a source don't show the road as being reinstated aspper your changeset but instead diverted through the new estate. Can you confirm that your changes relate to current data and that the road has indeed reopened in parts as you describe?

Hi!

Public right of way references should be entered in the prow_ref field, not the name field (which would be used for the actual name that people use to refer to the path/track if there was one)

Hi!

First of all, can you add a proper changeset comment rather than just "Updated", please? osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments

junction=yes is not useful unless the junction has a name - junction=yes?uselang=en-GB

Hi!

This traffic_signals node needs to be part of the road (High Street), not part of the pavement. I'll move it back to the correct location.

Hi!

I'm not sure why you deleted the on-road traffic signals node in this changeset - I will add it back to the road.

Hi!

You've set the residential areas in Wareham to residential=urban. According to residential=urban?uselang=en-GB and residential=* this is for areas with blocks of flats - Wareham has very few of these (e.g. I can think of one in Northport). Depending on the area, residential=terrace/duplex/single_family/detached might be better.

The section of Glen Road that this lift gate is part of way/663336747 just has access=no without any exemption for buses etc. - should it also be adjusted to have similar access tags to the lift gate, consistent with the eastbound section way/32612693 ?

Hi.

In some of your recent changesets, you've disconnected footpaths from roads, so routing engines will no longer be able to use them, e.g. way/556328063

Hi.

oneway:motorcar=yes is not a valid tag - it should be oneway=yes (which covers the general case) then exceptions for buses/bicycles/etc. Friar Street way/874010135/history was previously tagged correctly after 4004 corrected it in changeset/123866407

Hi!

I've previously mentioned that "designated" means a signposted route, e.g. changeset/128703405 and setting motor_vehicle=designated on a bus-only road is wrong.

For example way/31557212 allows buses, taxis, and cyclists - not motor vehicles in general. Lewwy would surely have seen the signs about cameras.

Hi!

On way/1294934072 you've set motor_vehicle=designated and bicycle=designated, but you added a note which included "stall holders, stage builders; & by and for park maintenance workers vans & trucks.". Did you mean "private" (i.e. only open to certain people) rather than "designated" (a signposted through route for everyone using that mode of transport)?
