over 6 years ago | I have to revert this changeset; the tagging convention in Hong Kong is to list both the Chinese and English names in name=*.
over 6 years ago | I think this is still problematic; it looks like changeset/52847968 unnecessarily duplicated some (but not all) of the ways without correcting the layer values. The user seems to have thought that each direction of a road needs to be mapped separately. Even though some of them are correctly physically separated, others seem to be problematic or aren't drawn correctly (e.g. the road at podium level near The Waterfront/The Arch definitely doesn't have a barrier down the middle). Some of the new nodes also connect layer=1 and layer=0 ways. I'm not sure what layer they should be in.

over 6 years ago | On an aesthetic level, the nine extra decorative characters on Times Square–42nd Street don't look as bad as I thought they would (and the font support helps), although they do take up quite a bit of extra space.
over 6 years ago | A few months ago I standardized most of the station names to uniformly remove the (A,C,E) brackets per tagging conventions (as well as fixing other misc. things like en dashes). Before it was quite inconsistent, so I made the sort-of-mechanical edits and I don't think anyone complained about it. I think adding the line names as decorative Unicode characters could work but I'm not sure if that would be breaking the tagging convention. I'm also not a New Yorker so I'll probably leave any sort of decision on this to others.

almost 7 years ago | I've undone this changeset entirely, because the object was clearly added in the wrong place.

almost 7 years ago | Hi, unfortunately this already existed in the map before you added it (way/264462780), so I'll remove it.
almost 7 years ago | Done. (changeset/67740659)
almost 7 years ago | As suggested by the wiki (railway=station), I'll add landuse=railway and see if it works.
almost 7 years ago | This changeset caused the stations to stop rendering.

almost 7 years ago | Of course, this is not to say that I actually know whether aaronsta plagiarized in this series of edits, but considering that government maps of Hong Kong are copyrighted and the lack of appropriate sourcing (source=aaronsta on changesets), I would have some doubts.
almost 7 years ago | Is there a reason highway areas would be altogether inappropriate? They are quite frequently used (https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/?key=area%3Ahighway). Separately, the user who made these changes was blocked at least once for making illegal imports, which I suspect might be a problem here (though the additions were years ago).
almost 7 years ago | Sorry, I didn't realize there was also a layer conflict with the Cross-Harbour Tunnel (the ways weren't downloaded by the JOSM reverter, so the validator couldn't have caught it). I thought the only conflict was with the Tsuen Wan Line.
almost 7 years ago | Does the slip road actually have a name? I'm fairly sure it doesn't, but I'm not sure. (Also, the Chinese name should be before the English name.)
